By Norman Snowden

Norman Snowden aims to keep alive the memories of Deer Isle-Stonington residents and their lifestyles, past and present, through his verses. These are fun, quirky, relatable accounts of Snowden’s life growing up on the island and his frequent return visits as an adult. He notes, “As I look back over the years I realize how fortunate we were to live in a world without locks on the doors, a time when musicians would play just for the sake of being together and spreading joy in their community.” Forty-two of what Norman calls his stories are contained in this volume, ranging from “It wasn’t all that bad” to “The home made pickup” to “The supper dishes,” all vignettes of life on the island in what some might call better days. “Heart warming, belly laughing, thought provoking, lessons for all,” an Amazon reviewer says.
